Is Lootbound multiplayer?
No. Lootbound is single-player. You control the main hero directly while companions act automatically from their own visible conditions.
When did Lootbound release?
Lootbound released in full on August 14, 2026. It is not an Early Access release.
What version do these guides cover?
Every page covers patch 1.1.7 plus the August 21, 2026 update, including the current reward choice, balance, stability, and resolution changes.
How many classes are in Lootbound?
The current roster has four classes: Warrior, Witch, Bard, and Paladin. Each class has one achievement for unlocking all abilities for its companion and a separate achievement for completing a run with that class on Difficulty III.
What should I do when a hero stays locked?
Do not edit or delete the save. Record the locked class and current Hub state, close the game, and back up the complete Data folder. Updating, restarting, and verifying local files are technical remediation only; none is a promised unlock sequence.
Should I take the common reward or roll the die?
Take the common item when it immediately fixes damage, survival, mana, or grid space. Roll when the common item adds no usable value and the current board can absorb a miss.
How do companion targets work?
Companions act automatically, and default attacks tend toward low-health enemies. Use the main hero to create one clear finishing target and equip each companion for one repeatable role.
What do Initiative, Order, and Chaos do?
Initiative controls early turn order. Order improves abilities that use Order, while Chaos improves curses and Chaos effects. Match each stat to an equipped action instead of treating it as universal power.
How do Acid, Slash, and Crush differ?
Acid bypasses armor, Slash applies health pressure, and Crush addresses armor. Use the lane that solves the current enemy defense and keep party damage focused.
Do temporary items disappear?
Some item tooltips state that the item disappears after five combats. Track the displayed timer and prepare the permanent layout before the final use expires.
Is Lootbound Steam Deck compatible?
Yes. Steam marks Lootbound Playable. Default controls and performance pass, while some interface text can be small.
Where are Lootbound saves stored?
Saves are in the ArtDock LootBound Data folder for Windows, macOS, or Linux and use the .data suffix. Close the game and copy the complete folder for a clean backup.
How many achievements are there?
Lootbound has 20 achievements. The First Fall requires Die on a run for the first time. Four achievements separately cover companion ability unlocks and four others cover class clears on Difficulty III. The remaining conditions cover three named bosses, Hub purchases, Kill 50 elite enemies, Discover 400 unique items, Discard a blacksmith gem, Complete a run in under 35 minutes, and Complete a run without any companion deaths.
What is the hidden Blacksmith Gem achievement?
Oops, Butterfingers requires discarding a Blacksmith Gem. Reserve a spare gem and discard the gem itself during a completion-focused run.
How should I choose Guardian parts?
The current Steam Store calls the system and final boss the Guardian. Some current in-game UI, including the part-choice screen, labels that same final enemy Sentinel. The names do not identify mechanically different systems; this site uses Guardian as the primary term. Each biome end presents two options. Use only the visible selection information, choose one without inventing a hidden effect, and track it with every earlier choice. All parts selected across biome-end choices contribute to the final Guardian's appearance and power, so review the complete selection history before the final node.
Does Lootbound support controllers?
Yes. Lootbound has full controller support, and Steam Deck's default controller configuration passes compatibility review. Follow the current on-screen prompts. If input stops responding, try reconnecting first, then restart only if the issue remains. On Steam Deck, return a custom Steam Input layout to default only if needed; verify local files after the earlier checks do not resolve the issue.
