Lootbound is Playable on Steam Deck
Use the default Steam Deck configuration first. Default controls and performance pass the current compatibility review. The listed limitation is that some interface text can be small. Read item tooltips at a comfortable screen distance and confirm temporary timers, aura conditions, and reward text before making permanent layout decisions.
Install patch 1.1.7 and the August 21 update before troubleshooting. The current update includes stability and resolution work, so an older installation can reproduce problems already addressed in the current baseline.
Use this loading and display troubleshooting order
This order handles installation, corrupted local files, and display state before introducing extra compatibility variables. If the game starts after a single change, keep that configuration and confirm menus, item tooltips, combat, and save loading before adjusting anything else.
- Close Lootbound and restart the Steam Deck.
- Install every available game update.
- Verify Lootbound's local files in Steam.
- Return the game to a standard display resolution.
- Launch with the current default compatibility configuration.
- Change only one compatibility or display option, then test again.
Protect saves before deeper troubleshooting
Close the game and copy the complete LootBound/Data folder before switching devices, reinstalling, or changing the active Linux environment. Lootbound uses .data files and supports Steam Cloud, but a manual backup gives you a fixed recovery point. Keep the copy outside the live save directory.
After a reinstall or compatibility change, launch once and confirm the correct Hub and progression state before continuing a run. Restore the backup only with the game closed, and preserve the original current files until the restored state is confirmed.
Separate text size, control, and performance problems
- Small text: use display comfort and careful tooltip inspection.
- Wrong prompts: reconnect the intended controller and follow the prompts shown on screen.
- Loading failure: restart, update, verify files, and test the default configuration.
- Display failure: return to a standard resolution before changing compatibility tools.
- Progress concern: back up the Data folder before further changes.
