Buy Arsenal items to add them to future run drops
Use the Arsenal as a permanent unlock pool, not as a shop that hands the purchased item directly to the current character. Buying a sword, armor piece, or other item makes that item eligible to appear during later runs. It does not place a copy in inventory and it does not guarantee the item in the first biome.
This distinction explains the most common confusion: the purchase can succeed while the next run never shows the item. Treasure, elite, and other eligible rewards still draw from a larger pool. Enter the run expecting a chance to find the unlock, then judge every appearance by the current build rather than forcing it into the grid because it was purchased.
Plan purchases around item families you actually build
Prioritize Arsenal items that support equipment families already used by your reliable heroes. A sword unlock is most useful when Warrior or another planned grid can exploit its damage, shape, and aura relationships. A Divine armor unlock is most useful when a Paladin or defensive companion can fit it without breaking the party plan.
Avoid unlocking many unrelated pieces at once. Every new option increases variety in the future reward pool, which can make a specific desired item less frequent. Add one coherent group, learn how those shapes and effects fit, and expand again when the group consistently improves real runs. Collection progress and run consistency are separate goals.
| Purchase case | Priority | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| Matches a proven hero family | High | Future drops can enter an existing engine |
| Fills a missing damage or defense role | High | The unlock addresses a repeated run failure |
| Interesting but unrelated shape | Low | It expands the pool without a destination |
| Needed only for collection | Later | Finish reliable run tools before broad collecting |
Know where the unlocked item can appear
After the purchase, look for the item in normal eligible reward opportunities during a run. The Arsenal does not reserve a special delivery slot. A purchased item may compete with other unlocked equipment, and repeated rooms can show different pieces. Missing it in an elite reward or several chests is ordinary random selection, not proof that the unlock failed.
When the item finally appears, read the current tooltip and inspect its shape. Some items have side-specific auras or growth effects that make orientation important. Compare the actual offered version with the board in front of you. The unlock guarantees access to the possibility, not that every appearance is correct for every character.
- Do not wait for an item to appear in the Hub inventory.
- Do not expect the first biome to produce a guaranteed copy.
- Check eligible run rewards normally.
- Evaluate the offered shape and effect before equipping it.
Separate bad luck from a broken unlock
First confirm that the Arsenal purchase remains marked as owned or unlocked after returning to the Hub. Then complete several normal reward opportunities without changing files or reinstalling. Because appearance is random, one or two missed runs cannot diagnose a problem. Keep a note of the item name and the room types checked so the observation is specific.
If the purchase no longer appears owned, protect the save before troubleshooting. Back up the current data, verify Steam Cloud state, and avoid copying demo data over the full-release profile. If the purchase is owned but the item has not appeared, continue normal runs; do not delete progress in an attempt to force a guaranteed drop that the system does not provide.
- Confirm the item is marked purchased in the Arsenal.
- Restart the game once and recheck the owned state.
- Run several eligible reward paths without modifying the save.
- Record the exact item and reward rooms checked.
- Back up the save before any deeper repair step.
Use the Arsenal without weakening future runs
Treat each unlock as a new tool added to a shared toolbox. Add tools that solve repeated problems first: a missing equipment family, an efficient shape, or a strong anchor for a hero you intend to clear with. Delay novelty unlocks until the core pool already produces stable builds.
Once an unlocked item drops, it has no special claim on grid space. Keep it only when the finished board improves. This prevents sunk-cost decisions and keeps the Arsenal useful: permanent access expands strategic options, while disciplined reward choices decide whether a particular copy belongs in the current run.
