Use one generic preparation check before every boss
Use the same pre-boss check for focused damage, armor access, mana, and companion survival. The three achievement-named bosses are the Vizier of Halls of Knowledge, Queen of Mad Swarm, and Ashen Bastion. Prepare from the visible combat state rather than assigning an individual mechanic or special counter to a boss name.
Read the current encounter state, Initiative, armor, health, and visible effects when the fight begins. Then apply the party plan already proven in ordinary rooms and elites. A stable build with one flexible answer is more reliable than several one-fight counters that break the inventory.
Use elites as a boss-readiness test
The achievement list tracks defeating 50 elite enemies, so elite fights serve both progression and preparation. Before entering one, check whether the current board can open armor, apply health pressure, protect its essential companion, and preserve mana for the next pressure point. If one of those jobs has no owner, fix the party before a named boss.
During an elite fight, identify the enemy whose next turn creates the largest loss. Spend mana only when it prevents that loss or creates a decisive opening. If the party needs all resources to survive every elite, the build is not ready for a longer boss sequence. Improve the failing layer rather than adding unrelated power.
- Check the party's armor and health lanes.
- Identify the companion whose loss breaks the plan.
- Reserve mana for the first dangerous action.
- Focus one threat until its action is removed.
- Review which layer failed before taking the next reward.
Read the visible boss state through five questions
First, which unit acts early enough to threaten the party? Second, does armor block the current damage lane? Third, which visible effect changes target priority? Fourth, which companion role must remain active? Fifth, what resource must be saved for the next sequence? These questions use information available in the fight without depending on a hidden formula.
Answer the largest problem first. Use Crush when armor is the immediate obstacle, Acid when bypassing armor supports the plan, and Slash for focused health pressure. Set Initiative so the relevant opening, protection, or finishing action happens in time. Keep Order and Chaos investment attached to abilities that actually use them.
| Visible problem | Practical response |
|---|---|
| Dangerous early action | Use Initiative, control, defense, or a fast removal |
| Armor blocks progress | Apply Crush or bypass with Acid |
| Party damage spreads | Create one priority target and focus |
| Essential companion threatened | Remove the threat or spend mana to protect the role |
| Long sequence ahead | Preserve mana and sustain for the decisive turn |
Track boss achievements without weakening the attempt
Treat the named boss objectives as route milestones. Use a practiced class and build when targeting a missing boss, and let unrelated long-term counters progress naturally. Do not compromise a promising attempt to collect a weak item or force a class condition that the current board cannot support.
The three named boss objectives can be combined with class, Difficulty III, item, dice, consumable, elite, or Barracks progress when those goals already fit the run. Keep the under-35-minute and no-companion-death challenges separate until the boss route is familiar, because each imposes a different decision style.
- Use a practiced damage plan for a missing named boss.
- Combine only goals that do not disrupt the boss setup.
- Preserve the central inventory when a side counter offers weak value.
- Record the boss completion after returning to the Hub.
Diagnose a boss loss before changing the build
If armor stopped all progress, add a dedicated armor answer. If the party died before setup, improve Initiative, opening survival, or target focus. If mana was empty, reduce spending in ordinary rooms. If one companion death collapsed the loop, protect that role and remove the threatening action sooner. If the inventory could not accept the needed answer, remove filler and restore connected open space.
Make one correction and repeat the same central plan. This keeps the result readable and shows whether the changed layer solved the boss loss.
